FAQ #1: Will We Do Black-Facing?

Hey everyone, Boggers here!

I have been receiving a lot of questions from rightfully concerned people about the topic of black-facing in Ken Ludwig’s comedy-farce Lend Me A Tenor.  More specifically the question of whether we will do black-facing or not.

First of all, thank you for reading our blog and taking the time to write back to us! We appreciate your interest in our work!

Coming back to our serious question, our production will not do black-facing, and the reason is very simple. We (the production team, cast, and crew) strongly believe that black facing is a highly inappropriate and racist practice. We do not support it and we do not endorse it.

Furthermore, we disagree with how previous productions (both professional and amateur) have portrayed the character of Othello. We understand the character differently, and we are looking forward to presenting you with our vision during the performances.

We would like to invite you to follow us on our journey to bring our vision to life. We will also post bits of our vision on this blog. Be sure to check our blog regularly for updates!
